Ministries at St. John's
Liturgy
Ministries related to worship are:
acolytes, who assist the priest during
the service with the cross, torches, Gospel book, bread and wine, and other needs
which take place as the service happens;
altar guild, who provide for furnishings and decorations for
services and care for vestments, linens, and vessels;
chalice bearers, lay ministers who offer wine to worshipers at communion;
choir members, lead the service in song and support the director of music
in in his work of lifting up the worship with music both ancient and modern;
lay Eucharistic ministers, who are trained and licensed by the
diocese to go out weekly after Sunday services to take communion to
those unable to be with us due to illness or infirmity;
ushers, who greet parishioners and newcomers as they come into
church, hand out bulletins and offer hospitality, as well as help
with seating, directing people to communion, and assisting
worshipers as needed.
